Surinder Kathpalia is responsible for business and market development across Southeast Asia. He joined Standard & Poor's in 1996 spearheading market development initiatives as head of the Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong offices. Prior to Standard & Poor's, Mr. Kathpalia worked as an investment banker at HSBC Investment Bank in London and Mumbai and was formerly a Principal with Ernst & Young in Singapore. He holds a master's degree in management from the London Business School, and graduated with a bachelor of commerce from Sydenham College, University of Bombay. As a UK Chartered Accountant, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Investment Management Association of Singapore, and member of the Board of Governors' Audit Committee of the United World College of South East Asia.
